Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle

The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle (Honu) is indigenous to Hawaii.
Currently the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle is on the endangered species list. However, it is under review for delisting. Their diet is typically sea grass and algae which is why you find them mostly on the north shore of Oahu. There are many fun facts about the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle, for example; males once mature, have thicker and longer tales than females. Sea turtles are part of the Hawaiian culture and should be respected as such. If you have the fortunate opportunity to see the Honu in its’environment, please enjoy but do not frighten or disturb them. By doing these two things will allow others to have the same experience as you. Mahalo nui loa!
