The Naha Stone is located in front of the Hilo Library, 300 Waianuenue Ave, Hilo, Hawaii, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is a significant part of Hawaiian history. It is said King Kamehameha I (The Great), rose to power when he moved the Naha Stone.
The stone belonged to a group called the Naha Clan. It was believed that only the ali’i of the Naha Clan could move the stone. Legend had it, that whoever moved the stone, then they would rule and unite all the Hawaiian islands. King Kamehameha I risked his life to prove he could move the 7000 lb stone.
